PROBLEM
As one of the driest-yet-fastest-growing cities in the country, Denver has a water problem.
SOLVED.
Rather than reprimand its denizens for wasting water, Denver Water focused on turning water conservation into a positive, proactive social message. With this campaign we created ads that physically demonstrated the benefits of the message, “Waste is out.” Reusing old billboards and placing a thin vinyl snipe over the existing art, our campaign used 92% less vinyl than a newly printed board.
The results were a watershed: water consumption dropped 22%, negative perceptions of Denver Water were slashed in half, favorable perceptions increased by 10%, and Denver Water became the most beloved, most trusted utility in Denver. Not only that, Denver was named one of the most sustainable cities in America.
